Rationalising the logistics and transport sectors and reducing traffic congestion are now priority issues which can no longer be postponed. Elsag Datamat provides support for operators in the intermodal freight/passenger transport and urban infomobility segments with an integrated offering of specific products and services, including not only technology, plant, information systems and advanced sensor products, but also outsourced service management.

The systems supplied by Elsag Datamat are always the product of close collaboration with sector operators to identify the most appropriate solution in specific contexts, to prepare suitable methodologies and to plan project implementation. Intermodal and transport logistics

Elsag Datamat works with the transport community to manage intermodal hubs and network infrastructure. The offering comprises systems and technology for intermodal hub coordination, freight tracking and fleet management, road and rail transport security, and the prevention of risks deriving from hazardous goods transport. Systems also provide an answer to the need to exchange documents between transport operators and control sea traffic, as well as to manage emergencies at sea and container/passenger terminals.

Offering

Systems for intermodal hubs: integrated management solutions for intermodal centres or interports. Management of all administration and operating processes: cargo loading, unloading, storage and handling.
Multi-function road/rail portals: control gates located on motorways or railway lines to detect or measure the conditions of vehicles in transit (rail cars or road trucks) and alert the competent agencies in the event of malfunction or failure.
Hazardous goods transport management: system designed to support the prevention of risky events connected with the transportation of hazardous goods and assist monitoring and emergency support activities.
Vessel Traffic Service (VTS): contributions to the development of the Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) set up by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport to monitor in excess of 7,500 km of Italian coastline and ensure the safe management of sea transport.

Public transport and mobility

The Elsag Datamat offering for urban traffic and mobility in extended territorial areas comprises:

fleet monitoring: real time vehicle positioning, data acquisition, two-way voice communication between drivers and operations centres, and service monitoring.
electronic fare collection: a fare collection and charging solution for extended metropolitan areas, offering management mechanisms for various custom endorsement and season ticketing systems.
in-vehicle video surveillance: digital recording system for images captured by a series of video surveillance cameras. The images can be transferred from the in-vehicle system to a consultation station for investigation and control purposes.
traffic monitoring and control: advanced traffic light management system, featuring priority transit for public transport vehicles, coordination between bordering urban areas and monitoring of environmental conditions.
access control: solutions for the automatic detection and identification of vehicles entering car parks and urban areas with special traffic restrictions or regulations in force.
information panel control: multichannel interface based system (variable message panels, SMS messages, radio information, WEB) to deliver prompt, up-to-date traffic information.
